Recount On DIY Camp

 Recount On DIY Camp 2020


On November 10th we had a diy camp. We got in the hall all of the classes left except our class. Then the instructors introduced themselves there names were Om but his real name was Onmic the next instructors was Mounty and Hannah. They lead us to make steps. They asked us questions like where were tepe from?


After that we started to make steps. The first step was to get begs and a rope then turn the rope around adter taking two big steps and stab the beg in. After that we got to play with maori toys and that. We got a ball made out of harakeke. We played volleyball and it was fun.


Then we got called to eat morning tea and sanitize our hands. For morning tea we had nut bars,Fruit,Bananas,Oranges. After morning tea we had dowtime to go in our tepes. We spent 20 minutes there. After that we went to our instructors they sent an adult and they will teach you to weave a bracelet.


After weaving We went into the hall, then Mounty told us a story about Maui making fire.

Then we tried it when we got the hang of it,it started to smoke. We had to get hay then get burnt hay.  Then we got flint in steel then scraped it to the burt hay then it started to smoke you had to blow it to make fire so that's what we did then flames pooped up. After we had to throw it in the cmap fire to make dinner.


After that we did cooking and I was peeling the kumaru. Next to me was people cutting the onions I started to tear up. When I finished I went outside to play with my friends. They were playing volleyball. Few minutes later Ila,Patric,Luke,Tevia and I went to go get wood for the fire. Manpreet then told us to go in our teepees again. 


Then we got called to come out. Then we eat dinner. It was curry chicken that was so yum. When I finished we got called to go into the hall. Rain our prince bell talked to use to clean our toilets. After we made lanterns we had to find animal footprints my group was the last group to finish.


After we sang waiata

by the campfire sang kaw waita,Matariki waitai,He honore and Heaps more than the instructor om told us to go sleep.
